For Tryavna
Tryavna is a historical town that reveals the art of its masters – woodcarvers and icon painters. The revival houses and related crafts – construction and woodcarving, arouse interest. The architectural ensemble gives an idea of urban planning during the Revival period.
An evidence of the high level of the local woodcarving school is the interior of the typical Tryavna house, which is completely decorated with woodcarvings.
The ability of the Tryavna builders to create beautiful buildings was always connected with the development of the other two crafts – woodcarving and icon painting. The unique appearance of Tryavna is due to its original architecture, thanks to generations of master builders who constructed churches, bridges, schools, and the beautiful Tryavna houses.
The Specialized Museum of Woodcarving and Icon Painting preserves some of the best examples of iconostasis made by Tryavna masters.
You can learn more about the Revival past of Tryavna and the typical local crafts from our audio guide.
